The Larry King Family

Larry King of Hearts

The ageless Larry King and his lovely wife, singer Shawn King, recently hosted their annual Larry King Cardiac Foundation benefit at the Regent Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. Larry started the foundation in 1988 after his own heart surgery. The group provides funding for individuals who are financially unable to receive life-saving cardiac care. What is 70 year-old King's secret for staying young? He told POWER, "You gotta stay on top of it. When I open my eyes in the morning, I don't want to get up, and I certainly don't want to exercise. So, I do both things. I find that when I finish, I feel 100% better. I'm a type A personality. I don't handle everyday stress well. On my show, nothing bothers me. But real life can be hard for me."

The night honored fellow heart surgery alumni and esteemed director Blake Edwards and philanthropist Jim Murren, president and CEO of the MGM Mirage. The showbiz crowd included the elegant Mrs. Blake Edwards, Julie Andrews, author Jackie Collins, actor Michael Nouri, actresses Barbara Eden, Fran Drescher, Stephanie Powers, Don Rickles and his wife, Barbara, esteemed actor Sidney Poiter, director Garry Marshall, Motown founder Berry Gordy and Barbara and Marvin Davis. The ageless velvet crooner himself, 77 year-old Tony Bennett, serenaded the crowd and literally had this introspective bunch speechless when for his last song, he sang " I Left My Heart In San Francisco" acapella. All in all, a classy night in Beverly Hills.
