The Honeymooners

POWER covered a screening of Paramount Pictures’ latest hit, The Honeymooners , based on the classic '50s CBS television series. Cedric the Entertainer, Mike Epps, Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall, Eric Stoltz and John Legizamo starred in the movie, which was directed by John Schultz. The comedy, which had the audience in stitches from start to finish, tells the story of two best friends and their hilarious gigs. Bus driver Ralph Kramden, played by Cedric the Entertainer, and sewer worker Ed Norton, played by Mike Epps, together hatch a get-rich-quick scheme to get them out of Brooklyn and onto easy street. Their devoted wives, Alice (Gabrielle Union) and Trixie (Regina Hall), stand by their husbands, despite their silliness, and help them make ends meet by waitressing at a neighborhood diner. Roger Ebert gave the film a big “thumbs up” and it is sure to please the crowd that enjoyed the original series, as many of The Honeymooners’ shenanigans are quite familiar. Jackie Gleason and Art Carney would have been proud of this version of the original.
