Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Los Angeles at Smashbox Studios

The weather wasn’t the only thing that sent temperatures rising in Los Angeles last week. The scorching designs on display at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Los Angeles at Smashbox Studios also heated up the City of Angels. Check out some of the highlights as we bring you behind the scenes of some of the hottest shows and events.

Zac Posen
Poised and confident Zac Posen models struck a pose at the illustrious Chateau Marmont for Chrysalis, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the homeless. Demi Moore, Rachel Bilson, Kate Walsh, Justin Chambers and Rebecca Gayheart were some of the stars who took their seats poolside to enjoy Posen’s California cool showing.

Collection Bebe
Collection Bebe raised a few eyebrows at their envelope-pushing show. From a red, black and green palette, the designers crafted sporty chic ensembles that appeared to be inspired by Rock ‘n Roll. Elegant satin, matte and chiffon couture gowns were modified with leather zipper accents and tough motorcycle boots. Simple cocktail dresses also became more casual when paired with oversized hood coverings. The crowd favorite by far was a loose satin red and black blouse paired with black cigarette pants.  Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria and Ugly Betty’s Rebecca Romijn attended.

Sue Wong
Sue Wong walked down memory lane as her collection drew inspiration from the time she felt defined her: the sixties and seventies. At Smashbox Studios in Culver City, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Los Angeles vet previewed groovy, psychedelic mini dresses and maxidress that were far out! Retro, Twiggy-like mod dresses, available in hot pink, lime, copper and platinum, appeared to be the perfect ensemble for a Caribbean getaway or a fun night out on the town. For a more formal look, Wong offered her trademark couture cocktail dresses accented with beautiful embroidery and beading. A clear standout was a teal chiffon dress patterned with geometric orange and gold beads. General Hospital’s Jacklyn Zeman, Reno 911’s Niecy Nash and The O.C.’s Nikki Griffin attended.

Kevan Hall
Kevan Hall also took us on a trip but instead of capturing a particular moment in time, the celebrity designer du jour focused on the fashion and lifestyle of what he called the “urban jetsetter.” As Hayden Panettiere, Garcelle Beauvais and Vondie Curtis-Hall buckled their first-class, front row seats at Smashbox Studios, Hall’s show took off, showing an eclectic array of sophisticated suits. Drawn from a rustic palette of titanium, bronze, and burgundy, one outfit sure to please professional fashionistas was a strapless wool jumpsuit paired with a matching beautiful wrap. Hall then veered towards his eveningwear collection, an ethereal ensemble of light, airy gowns. Hall made a perfect landing with a forest-green Grecian-styled dress with a matching taffeta sash and a black satin mermaid gown complemented with a jeweled velvet belt.
