Elizabethtown

POWER couldn't think of a better way to spend an unusually damp and chilly Los Angeles Monday night than to enjoy Paramount film Elizabethtown at the Paramount Theatre in Hollywood. Written and directed by Academy Award winner Cameron Crowe, Elizabethtown is a dramedy that shows the audience that perhaps the best things in life are those unexpected. It stars Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst and Alec Baldwin.

In the film, rising athletic shoe designer Drew Baylor (Orlando Bloom) gets handed his walking papers by business mentor and father-figure Phil (Alec Baldwin) when Drew learns the pet project that he has worked to perfect for eight years has failed miserably. Once jobless, Drew soon becomes girlfriendless as well, as likeable yet callous Ellen (Jessica Biel) dumps him because of his professional flounder. Yet, both events get put in perspective as the news of his father’s unexpected passing takes center stage. To attend to his father’s affairs, Drew heads for Elizabethtown, Kent. It is fate that introduces Drew to the queen of optimism, flight attendant Claire (Kirsten Dunst), who accompanies Drew to Elizabethtown. It is her stamina and influence that open Drew’s eyes to the breadth of his father’s life and his rich family history. Ultimately, this guides him on the path towards finding himself.

Thanks to the folks at Paramount for such a powerful film!
