A slew of celebrities, including Penny Marshall and Byron Allen, made an appearance at the beautiful Beverly Hilton Hotel to celebrate the 13th annual Gala for Children. Sponsored by A Place Called Home (APCH), an organization dedicated to helping Los Angeles at-risk youth, the fabulous fete began with a live auction.
John "Spider" Salley served as guest auctioneer. His
humorous performance garnered significant donations. Among the
amazing items up for bid were spectacular vacation, sports and
entertainment packages worth well over US $10,000.
Following the exciting auction, The
Swan’s life coach Nely Galan hosted the awards portion
of the evening. She introduced American
Idol judge Randy Jackson and football legend Marcus Allen
as they presented the awards to the evening’s honorees.
Peter Liguori, President of the Fox
Broadcasting Company, was awarded the Debrah Constance Humanitarian
Award. Actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, Rodney Peete,
one of the latest additions to Fox
Sports Net’s Best
Damn Sports Show Period received the Angel of the Children
Award. Philanthropist Susan Saltz-Burke and her husband Kevin
Burke, managing partner of Trinity
Capital, earned the Children’s Inspiration Award. |
