Emmys Put On a Show

TV viewers worldwide watched as Lost, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Amazing Race walked away with Emmys in 2005. But the awards were just one part of what makes the Emmys one of Hollywood's most coveted events to shine. From the pre-Emmy retreats to the exclusive after-parties, POWER takes you there.

LA’s Shrine Auditorium never looked so marvelous thanks the stars that came out to support the awards for their excellence in television. The celebrities, meanwhile, never looked as beautiful thanks to a host of red carpet designer gowns and jewelry. Charlize Theron sported a beaded Chanel dress, much in the flavor of a sexy flapper, while the cast of Desperate Housewives wowed the crowd with vivacious coloring and elegance. Marcia Cross’ emerald-colored Elie Saab creation was the true gem of the evening.

But after the awards was when the night thrived and celebrities had their pick of parties to choose from. TV Guide hosted a party at the Roosevelt Hotel and teen idols Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson attended. The sophisticated duo of Nicolette Sheridan and Teri Hatcher, meanwhile, attended the Governor’s Ball. HBO hosted their own post-show party at the Pacific Design Center with Charlize Theron and long-time boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, attending for an enchanted evening of Bollywood-inspired themes and colors.

From the preparation to the actual award show to the after parties, these A-listers had their hands full priming, preparing, attending, and last but not least, ending the day with the excitement and glamour that only an Emmy party can deliver.

Style 2005 Escape Pre-Emmy Retreat

As one would expect from a pre-Emmy retreat, there were plenty of celebrities basking in glamour as they perused the product-laden suites of the Luxe Hotel in Beverly Hills. The retreat included uber-exclusive gift bags, spa lounges, and tanning spots designed to pamper and prepare stars for the Emmys. The hotel was creatively divided up into stations, where celebrity attendees such as Darryl Hannah, Katherine Heigl and Traci Bingham could walk through and enjoy the services provided.

At the “Fashion Studio,” guests were treated to jeans, tees, and bags up to a US $3,000 value. Misa B.G showered guests with US $2,600 in handbags and belts. Also, rare jewelry loans were available to ensure a stunning entrance on the red carpet.

Moving on past the Fashion Studio, A-list guests were invited to lounge, have drinks, and receive the perfect tan by “Jimmy Coco Mobile Tanning Pros” while being lavished with exotic perfume and bath oils.

Finally, the part every A-lister loves, guests were presented with gift bags filled to capacity with luxury items totaling US $40,000. Aquanautic, the famous Swiss design-your-own-watch company, stole the limelight by giving away watches ranging from US $4,000 - 10,000 in value. Current fans of the watch's modern look and reliability include Sharon Stone and Paris Hilton.

Silver Spoon Buffet

As if the celebrities didn’t have enough pampering at the pre-Emmy retreat, Silver Spoon Marketing of Hollywood hosted a buffet to prep stars for the Emmys. With all proceeds going to the American Red Cross to raise funds for Katrina victims, the buffet treated celebrities from all walks of film and television to a relaxingly pampered good time.

Nestled in a private Beverly Hills property, vendors exhibited special gifts, cosmetics, body wraps, prestigious jewelry brands and exclusive accessories for the lucky guests. Stars were treated to red carpet make-up sessions and camera-ready hair styling in preparation for the big night. Acclaimed stylists Warren Tricomi and Ziba Beauty Center were present for exclusive hair styling and eyebrow shaping, while the La Brea Bakery and Pacific Plaza Caviar treated guests to gourmet samplings.

Raffles L’Ermitage Rooftop Party

In celebration of the Emmys, celebrities and local VIPs attended the Raffles L’Ermitage anniversary party. L’Ermitage is one of the ultimate luxury hotel experiences in Los Angeles, but for this night the focus was on an auction benefiting Hurricane Relief among other charities. Celebrities attending the rooftop party included Eric McCormack, Adrien Grenier, Jane Kaczmarek and Terry O’Quinn. And, in the grand Emmy tradition of exclusive sponsor gifts, A-List party-goers received Ritmo Mundo watches and martini glasses from Swarovski. They also had a chance to express themselves creatively by designing T-Shirts using fabric paint, which were later auctioned off, adding even more to the evenings' charitable slant. Glamour and charity – the ultimate Hollywood way to give back.
